Why Sleep Is the Foundation of Everything
You can eat well, exercise, take the right supplements, and do everything else right — and still fail to lose weight, control cravings, or quit smoking — if you are not sleeping deeply.
Sleep is not passive recovery. It is active biological repair. During deep sleep, the brain clears metabolic waste, consolidates behavior change, regulates the hormones that control appetite and stress, and resets the neurochemical balance that determines how you feel, how you think, and how well you resist cravings the following day.
A 2023 study published in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism found that sleep fragmentation significantly disrupted the stress hormone system, increasing nighttime cortisol levels by 27% and reducing the normal cortisol awakening response by 57%. Elevated cortisol drives fat storage, increases appetite, intensifies cravings, and makes behavior change exponentially harder.
Deep Sleep Foundation was formulated to address the most common physiological barriers to deep, restorative sleep — supporting the full melatonin pathway, calming the nervous system, and providing the specific forms of magnesium that research identifies as most effective for reaching and maintaining deep sleep stages.
The Science Behind the Formula
Magnesium (DiMagnesium Malate, Glycinate, Taurinate)
420 mgMost magnesium supplements use a single form. Deep Sleep Foundation uses three — each chosen for a specific reason. A comparative study on magnesium bioavailability found that magnesium acetyl taurate was most effective at increasing brain magnesium levels at all doses, while magnesium glycinate also improved brain magnesium levels. Magnesium is directly associated with melatonin production, and magnesium deficiency has been shown to decrease melatonin concentrations in the body. Clinical research confirms that magnesium supplementation enhances sleep efficiency and reduces insomnia severity.
L-Tryptophan
90 mgL-Tryptophan is the essential amino acid from which the body produces serotonin — and from serotonin, melatonin. This is the foundational pathway of natural sleep onset. Research confirms that tryptophan availability to the brain directly facilitates sleep onset and continuity.
Melatonin
16 mgMelatonin is the body's primary sleep signal. Modern life disrupts melatonin production through blue light exposure, irregular schedules, and chronic stress. Deep Sleep Foundation provides direct melatonin support alongside the tryptophan precursors that allow the body to produce its own — a dual approach that addresses both immediate sleep onset and the long-term restoration of natural melatonin production.
L-Glycine
1.7 mgGlycine is an inhibitory neurotransmitter that directly promotes relaxation and reduces core body temperature — one of the key physiological signals that triggers deep sleep. Research has shown that glycine supplementation improves sleep quality, reduces daytime fatigue, and enhances the efficiency of deep sleep stages.
Zinc (from Zinc Citrate)
11 mgZinc is required for the synthesis of melatonin and is involved in the regulation of GABA receptors — the same receptors that prescription sleep medications target, but through a natural, non-dependency pathway.
Vitamin B6, Vitamin B3 & Vitamin C
100 / 100 / 90 mgVitamin B6 is required for the conversion of tryptophan to serotonin. Deficiencies in B vitamins have been directly linked to sleep disturbances including insomnia and fragmented sleep patterns. Vitamin C supports the adrenal function that regulates cortisol — one of the primary biological enemies of deep sleep.

Glyphosate depletes soil minerals. Processed food strips magnesium from the diet. The result is a population chronically deficient in the very mineral most directly linked to both sleep quality and glucose metabolism. Deep Sleep Foundation restores what the modern food supply has taken away — in the specific forms the brain, nervous system, and metabolic cells can actually use. This is not just a sleep supplement. It is a metabolic support tool that works while you sleep.
